Nightmares…

Aug07_videoI keep having re-occuring nightmares. They have been going on for several months and started with cars. I’ll be in a large car, or large truck (like an 18 wheeler tractor trailer) that is too big to manage. While driving the truck, it will start going out of control. Many close calls and in the end things either work out or there is a mild crash. There is also a travel version, where I’ll be alone in a hotel room trying to figure out when I need to leave the hotel to reach an airport in a strange destination to get home. Now the dreams have shifted to boats… motor boats. I’ll be alone on a boat at the helm when it will start going faster and faster. Something will happen where I’ll be tossed overboard, without a lifejacket. There I’ll be swimming in the water, knowing there is no realistic hope of swimming to safety and that the inevitable lies ahead of me. That’s about when I’ll wake-up. What do you think this means wise readers?

The above picture was taken at Fintry this past summer. The kids were watching something fun on our new video camera.

  3. thirded. overwhelmed. spinning out of control. mayhaps the vaca gave you a chance to slow down a bit and it’s more of a challenge this year getting back into the swing of things. is that because the kids are all getting older or because of the new job? who knows. oh, and i’ll bet that there’s a touch of regret wrt the boat decision (whichever way that went, there’s always the path not chosen. i know i still regret selling the mgb even though i know it would never have gotten fixed up had we kept it).
hmmmm, was it this time last year that you were having the nightmares about being stuck in a building under attack? just something to think about.

  4. When I was working with a therapist she would do the Jungian analysis of dreams with me. The trick was to write out to yourself/tell someone this dream as if they don’t know what the words mean. So – if you had to explain what a large truck is to someone who doesn’t know.
For instance, when i think of large truck I think of moving many things, transporting items of great importance, massive large items in motion.
What does it mean to you? What do large boats mean to you? What does getting to an airport mean to you?
And go through the things in the dream that have emotional ties to them. The franticness of that emotion – what does that mean to you?
    Anxiety, fear, loss?
See then put all those together and you get a very intense and direct portal to your subconscious.
Just some food for thought. Be well.

  5. Hi Charles,
Nice to see you back. I agree it could be about the fear of not being in control of something. Maybe you are about to make big decisions and fear the outcome?
Hope you manage to understand them and make them stop..

What issues cause you concern during your waking hours? Maybe you are getting a variation of those issues via your dreams.
Do an assessment of the things that really matter and let that guide you into the future.
